Throughout history, every community has recognized and defined itself through certain symbols.
Banners, drapes, and flags are among these symbols, representing a moment of pride and unity among people.
In late medieval Europe, often torn apart by conflict, standard-bearer officers preceded the soldiers with their flags. These flags, equipped with blades , became veritable weapons.
In times of peace, standard-bearers developed and refined their techniques, increasingly giving them a playful and spectacular quality.
Flag-throwers were born.
The Sansepolcro Flag-Wavers Group, composed of flag-wavers, drummers, and trumpeters, uses hand-painted banners and wears costumes made by qualified theatrical tailors.
This event is free for the public.
