The American Italian Research Library moved from its previous location at the America Italian Cultural Center in New Orleans to its current location at the East Bank Regional Library in 2012. The American Italian Research Library houses a large collection of oral histories, immigration records, notes, books, photographs and other artifacts chronicling the local Italian community. Dr. Cyril Lagvanec

Special Collections Curator

Dr. Cyril Lagvanec was born in Memphis, Tennessee. In 1977, he moved to Metairie, Louisiana, where he attended Sam Barthe School, and graduated in 1979. Dr. Lagvanec has a BA in History, that he attained from Baylor University in 1983. In 1988, he earned his MA in British and European History, from Tulane University. Then in 1999, he received his PhD in American Military History, from Texas A&M University.

He has been teaching History for more than thirty years. He has taught from the high school level at Jesuit, to graduate courses with the Naval War College. He loves History. It's in his blood. Currently, he is the curator of the Special Collections, in the Jefferson Parish Public Library.
